“We should stay here all day,” Sully said the following morning when Sara tried to slip from the bed.

“You know we can’t. Don’t you have a session with Marcus in a few hours?” she said, letting him pull her underneath him.

“That’s not for a few hours.” He pressed a kiss to her lips, swallowing her moan when his tongue darted in to taste her. She was pliant in his arms, and it would take little effort to convince her to stay in bed with him.

He was glad they were back in this place, in their comfortable bubble. Last night’s run-in with his brother had pissed him off, and he’d hated that Sara still wanted to leave separately, but he consoled himself with the fact that she hadn’t once pulled free of his hold on her hip when they’d talked to Liam. And when she’d laughed and made her opinion clear on the differences between Sully and his brother, a bolt of smug satisfaction had rocked through him. They still had a ton of steps to go to get to where he wanted to be with her, but they were getting there, and that’s all he wanted for now.

He just hoped he still felt that way for as long as she continued to drag her feet. It was the most pathetically guarded secret with their friends, and she had to see that by now.

She twined her arms around his neck, holding him close when he deepened the kiss, and all thoughts of last night disappeared. They spent the next hour wrapped up in each other.

“This is how we should wake up every morning.” He was sprawled out next to her on the bed, and he shifted on his side to stare at her.

“Don’t look at me like that, mister. We have to get out of this bed.” She pressed a quick kiss to his lips and scooted out of bed before he was prepared.

“Spoilsport. Shower?” he asked, stalking toward her.

“Fine. But a quick one.” She pointed her finger at him. “That means a quick shower, not a quickie.”

“Fine. There’s always this afternoon,” he teased, following her into the bathroom.

After a disappointingly fast shower, and an equally disappointing time separately drying off and getting dressed, Sully found himself outside of Sara’s house as they walked to the farmers market a few blocks over. He still wasn’t sure how she’d convinced him, but it hadn’t taken much cajoling since he wanted to spend every minute with her, especially when she was doing something she loved. Her face would light up, and she would get that small smile that started at one corner of her mouth before it took over her entire face.

Breathtaking.

He was so far gone.

“So, what are we looking for? And isn’t it early for this?” On his days off, he liked to stay asleep until at least nine. They’d been given the day off, and his only scheduled workout was with Marcus after lunch.

“You have to get here early to get the best stuff.
